Pope Francis launched in September 2017, the global campaign Share the Journey, which seeks to encourage the integration of immigrants and refugees in the countries that host them. “We must welcome them with open arms”, said the Pontiff at the launch of the Campaign promoted by Caritas Internationalis.

The campaign’s main objective is to promote the “culture of encounter”, increasing spaces and opportunities for immigrants and local communities to meet and exchange experiences. The lack of “positive encounters” with each other was identified as a key issue by the campaign working group. In this sense, the campaign is expected to create a new narrative and promote positive dialogue on immigration issues.
